My prayer came to you in your holy temple,
and you brought up my life from the depths.
I called upon you, O God, out of my distress, and you answered me;*
out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice.
You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas,*
and the flood surrounded me, all your waves and billows passed over me.
Then I said, I am driven away from your sight,*
how shall I ever look again upon your holy temple?
I went down to the land beneath the earth,*
Yet you brought up my life from the depths, O God.
My prayer came to you in your holy temple,
and you brought up my life from the depths. [Jonah 2.2-4]
Entombed, within, deathly pall,
a sepulchral bell
tolls - time.
Sinking, down, where only faith,
in the crucified
rings – true.
Jesus whenever I am in doubt or fear, for whatever reason - but mainly due to my lack of faith - may I ever hold onto you and your eternal power to save.
In this fourteenth station,
I confront my own fear of death.
When I step into that eternal void,
simply to your cross, I will cling.
Even in this world cleave to you,
because in my heart, I know
when I have called,
you heard my voice, you answered me.
