LENT AT ST PAUL"S GOODMAYES

One of the most important practices throughout Lent is prayer. Through Lenten prayer we recommit ourselves to Christ, to His church and to the redeeming work He is doing and desires to do in the world around us. Through Lenten prayer we silence ourselves and listen to Christ’s heart for us and for the world.

There is a lot of variety in how the church has practiced fasting, almsgiving and prayer during lent and I think as we enter lent it is important for each of us to search our hearts and figure out how best we can practice these Lenten themes in ways that according to God’s unique calling and work in our lives connects us more closely with Christ our Saviour. our local community and the wider world

Here are some ideas of ways to practice and engage more in the Lenten season this year:

Every Friday at 7:30pm throughout Lent we will be sharing  Stations of the Cross our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ. These will alternate between the two churches starting at St Cedd’s on Friday 24th February.

Every Saturday from 12 noon to 2:00pm, we will be sharing simple Bread & Cheese Lent Lunches with all our brothers & sisters in Christ is the Goodmayes Fellowship of Churches. These will start at on Saturday 25th February at Goodmayes Baptist Church.

Every Tuesday at 8:00pm there will be Lenten Talks followed by some silent reflection and the ancient office of Night Prayer. These will all be in St Paul’s starting on Tuesday 28th February.

Everyone should endeavor to be at the 10:00am Sung Mass every Sunday during Lent, Holy Week and Easter.

Our Lent Giving this year is going to the Bishop of Chelmsfiord's Lent Appeal. This is to support the churches in Kenya. For more information pleazee click here.
